All Pacific Cove Premium pasteurized crab meat is sourced from Portunus pelagicus (Blue Swimming Crab). We never mix crab species, ensuring consistent quality, flavor, and texture in every can and cup. Our Blue Swimming Crab meat is known for its naturally sweet flavor and delicate, flaky texture.
Pacific Cove Premium pasteurized crab meat should be kept refrigerated between 33-37 degrees F until ready to use. Because this is refrigerated pasteurized crab meat, it should never be stored in a pantry or at room temperature. Proper cold storage helps maintain freshness, food safety, and optimal flavor.
When stored properly between 33-37 degrees F, Pacific Cove pasteurized crab meat has an 18-month refrigerated shelf life from the package date printed on the bottom of the can or cup. Maintaining consistent refrigeration ensures maximum quality and food safety throughout its shelf life.
After opening, any unused portion of Pacific Cove refrigerated crab meat should be transferred to an airtight container, kept refrigerated, and consumed within 48 hours. Proper storage after opening helps preserve the fresh flavor and premium quality of our pasteurized crab meat.
We do not recommend freezing pasteurized crab meat, as freezing may increase moisture release and negatively affect the texture of the product.
If you do not plan to use the entire portion, we suggest incorporating the remaining Blue Swimming Crab meat into a prepared recipe before freezing.
